The Hampshire Clinic is a private hospital situated on the outskirts of Basingstoke, where Tuke Manton was commissioned to undertake a 1600 sq m enlargement.
Three separate extensions have been added. One extension comprises a new physiotherapy department, including a large hydrotherapy pool capable of supporting group therapy classes, together with additional consulting rooms and 13 new bedrooms. The second contains an additional theatre, a new theatre sterile supplies unit and administrative offices. The third contains a new restaurant and workshop.
A semi-circular projection at the front of the building houses the hydrotherapy pool, under a radial standing-seam metal roof. This adds visual interest to the front elevation and is the first part of the building seen when approaching the hospital.
The theatre extension, sterile services facility and administration suite are cut into the chalk bank at the back of the building.
Other work within the existing fabric of the building includes a new Endoscopy suite, a new Intensive Care Unit, an upgraded Health Screening unit, and the ‘Pelican’ suite.
We are currently involved with the design of further clinical extensions to the hospital, including an additional theatre and a new CT scanner and MRI suite.
